Karl Toomet

My name is Karl and I hope to be your future instructor as you explore the world of kitesurfing. Whether you’re a complete beginner who wants to come for your first training session or a more advanced skydiver who would like to learn how to jump (high but controlled) and do different tricks, I promise you will get the knowledge and tips from me on how to take your skills to the next level.

Personally, I’ve been more or less active in kitesurfing since 2006 and more seriously since 2019, when I decided to put aside my other hobbies and dedicate myself to the wind god and kitesurfing. I’m mainly into freestyle disciplines (don’t worry if that doesn’t mean anything to you now) but also feel at home in freeride, air style, wave and foil disciplines. I am a member of several surf clubs in Estonia – Surftown, No Work Surf Club, Surf Center. Favourite spots are Püünsi in Tallinn (with the right direction) and Neeme-Jõesuu in Estonia in general (if there are no algae). I’ve combined two of my passions – music and salmon surfing – together with Harri and Tõnis we make a kind of Estonian surf-rap group called Vocal Ensemble Vibra.

Daily bread is brought to my table by my work in the Estonian Defence Forces. But I’m really a hipster and creative person at heart. It’s just in the last few years that I’ve started to actively create music, producing and mixing various tracks by myself and other artists. So you can often find me with headphones on, in a corner somewhere, staring at a computer screen. Of the other sports, I have been more actively involved in team sports such as floor hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse at various stages of my life. Lately, a new sport I’m discovering is mixed martial arts or MMA. People who recommend music and books to me will stay in my memory forever.

So, if you see me at the beach, come and say hello. I’m happy to help you launch a kite or tighten your harness. And if you want to take a lesson, we can arrange a specific time. Until then, strong winds and smooth water!
